HP DeskJet 2300 Inkjet Printer Review
The HP DeskJet 2300 signals a new era in inkjet printing technology. The HP DeskJet 2300 is the triumphant return of inkjet printers into the office environment. HP DeskJet models were last in around the office before the arrival of the color laser printer. They were replaced (by color lasers) even though the initial cost of inkjet technology has always been lower, because an inkjet is far more expensive to run in terms of cost per printed page than a laser printer.
The cost of ink for inkjets is now dropping and the new ink cartridges for the HP DeskJet 2300 can be replaced separately resulting in a cost per page of only 2.2 c for black and under 9c for color. Do remember, however, that this does not include the cost of the paper for your HP DeskJet 2300.
The HP DeskJet 2300 A Workgroups Printer
The HP DeskJet printer is firmly aimed by HP at the small office environment as an alternative to the more expensive color laser printers. With a monthly rating of 10,000 sheets per month and the whole HP DeskJet 2300 range being capable of being placed on a network means the HP DeskJet 2300 is a viable alternative to the Laser Printers.

A Range of Printers in the HP DeskJet 2300 Series
There are three basic models in the HP DeskJet 2300 series, the 2300 2300n and 2300dtn and the major difference is that networking is standard on the 2300n and 2300dtn and the 2300dtn is capable of duplex (both side) printing with an extended input tray.
The high quality of photo printing resolution results in the HP DeskJet 2300 being a powerful tool for offices where the output needs to impress such as in a small marketing, advertising or graphic design office. As you would expect with any serious entry for a printer in the graphical industries the HP DeskJet 2300 is compatible with both PC's and Macs.
The HP DeskJet 2300 is capable of 4800 x 1200 dpi output resolution, provided the input files are at 1200 x 1200 resolution and high quality photo paper is used. There are photo inkjet printers that will print graphics better and being limited to four colors the HP DeskJet 2300 will never be a master of color reproduction.

Our Conclusion on the HP DeskJet 2300
InkJet printing technology has come a long way since it has been banished from the office. Most recently the growing popularity of photo printers in the home have pushed the color reproduction capabilities of inkjets further ahead. The HP DeskJet 2300 is the first offering of the inkjet in a small office and the reduction in the price of inkjet cartridges have meant that it is a viable alternative to a small laser printer. If you are planning to print even a medium volume on your workgroup, however, you are still better off with a laser printer.
